History
The name has its origin in the Drac de Vilafranca, a mythological figure in the form of a dragon that, despite its uncertain origin, can be dated between the 13th and 14th centuries.
During an outing of the Vilafranca Dragon in the village of Sant Martí Sarroca it started to rain and the Dragon was sheltered in our grandparents’ farmhouse called Cal Tort de les Ferreries, in the Fassina neighbourhood.
The Dragon stayed there for several weeks while they waited for it to be picked up and during those days the children of the village often came to see it saying that they were going to Cal Drac, which is why this was the name that the farmhouse was given and which still remains to this day.
Wines of the Penedès
Landscape, colours, smells, flavours, emotions, …. The Penedès is a land of nuances that enchants visitors with its tradition, personality and culture. To get to know this area you have to follow every detail and every corner that the years have left us in the territory. And that is why we have produced the wine VINYA DEL DRAC, a wine that wants to reflect our history and our traditions while offering the best quality of our vineyards.
Vinya del Drac is a small tribute, a remembrance, to our grandparents who at that time were already dedicated to the cultivation of vines and who have passed on to us over the years all their experience and wisdom (in other words, it is the vineyard of our grandparents).
Cal Drac is the name by which our ancestors’ family farmhouse is known. The farmhouse is located in the municipality of Sant Martí Sarroca, in the Alt Penedès region, in the province of Barcelona.
